Edusport Academy is a residential full time football academy for young French footballers, based in Scotland. The Edusport Academy was founded in 2011 with the aim of helping talented young French footballers to develop their skills in football and the English language, and gain opportunities with British professional clubs. They travelled to Broadwood in a confident mood after beating Spartans 5-1 in the Scottish Cup the previous weekend.

As the teams lined up it was evident to all that the French side had a clear edge in terms of physical strength and height and were also a much older team. However the young Colts were also on a high after their terrific result against Stirling Albion and started the game brightly. The youngsters were also boosted by the presence of David Brown in the defence as he made his return after breaking his wrist in the 1st teams opening fixture against Whitehill Welfare. The Colts also saw the return of O'Hagan from injury and Struthers started his first game of the season

The Colts were quickly on the attack and after only a few minutes a good move down the right resulted in the ball being cut back to the on rushing Pirrie who unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot from 20 yards. Everybody in the stadium expected a goal but somehow the Edusport goalkeeper produced a brilliant save to push the ball for a corner. This impressive young keeper went to produce a number of fine saves throughout the evening.

However, after 15 minutes the Colts got the breakthrough the early play deserved. The youngsters were awarded a free just outside the left had side of the 18 yard box and Pirrie showed great technique to bend the ball over the defensive wall and into the net. This was the young midfielders third goal in his last three games.

Both teams continued to play out the half with great enthusiasm and no shortage of good football.

Half time 0-1

The second half continued to produce some fast attacking play and it was obvious the physical effort both teams were putting in to the match. Edusport desperately tried to claw there way back into the game with some positional and tactical changes and the young Colts looked determined to extend their lead. This had the combined effect to produce a entertaining Friday night for the supporters that had turned up. However it was the local youngsters who went further ahead.

Good play on the left flank saw the ball worked into Fraser Sheridan inside the penalty area. The midfielder turned in the box and he tried to steer the ball into the corner of the net but he Edusport goalkeeper produced a fine save a punched the ball away to the right. This clearance was met by substitute McIntyre who put the ball back into the danger area and McKay was on hand to slot home. Like his team mate Pirrie, this was the little strikers third goal in three games.

Both teams made substitutions, the Colts introducing Beirne and Bateman late on giving them the opportunity to get some time on the park after recent injuries. The game continued to play out with no let up in its pace and the youngsters held firm to record a notable victory against a strong Edusport.

Full Time 2- 2

Another excellent game for the supporters. The young Colts are adapting well to this level of football and goalkeeper Kenny Giles recorded his first clean sheet of the season which will not doubt please him.

The game also gave the opportunity for some players to get some much needed playing time on their return from injury, no more so that David Brown, who used his experience to marshall the youngsters throughout the game. A good night for the team.
