It was to be another enjoyable Saturday afternoon at Broadwood for Cumbernauld Colts as they extended their winning run to six games in a row with a 2-0 win over Edinburgh University.
At the beginning of the first half Colts kept the ball well creating a few chances before Ross Kavanagh slotted the ball home at the back post to make it 2 goals in as many games for the striker on loan from Stirling Albion.
Edinburgh seen more of the ball as the half progressed but were not able to draw level before Colts were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box. Colts forward Stephen O’Neil stepped up to take it and made no mistake as he blasted the ball into the top right corner of the net. The goal meant Colts went in 2-0 up at the half time interval.
After the break Colts had the majority of possession but were struggling to get the third goal that would all but confirm the win despite the hard work of Colts front three, Kavanagh, O’Neil and Ronald. Colts managers made a series of positive substitutions brining on Andrew Selkirk and Jamie Broadfoot to try and add to the score line. Nevertheless, the two goals were enough to seal another victory for Colts. Another positive was seeing midfielder Ross Ballantyne returning to action after a long period out with injury.
