Cumbernauld Colts   3  v  1  Caledonian Braves

The young Colts met the French side Edusport in the final game of the five team League Cup section, with both teams protecting undefeated records.

The Cumbernauld youngsters started the game brightly and created some good early chances that both Brown and Sheridan squandered. Edusport showing some good individual talent struggled to get a foothold in the game as the home side continued to push forward and keeper Giles was rarely troubled in the home goal. Despite their dominance, the Colts could not find an opening and the teams went in at half time all square at 0-0.

Half Time 0-0

The second half started again with the Cumbernauld youngsters in the ascendancy and it wasn't long before the deadlock was broken. Some good play in midfield put pressure on the Edusport defence and Sheridan was on hand to capitalise on a slip by the French full back to coolly slot the ball home and give his side the lead.

Colts didn't have to wait for long for the second and a nice pass split the Edusport defence open allowing Brown a straight run in on goal and the striker took the opportunity to increase the lead.

To their credit Edusport continued to battle and were rewarded when then found the net after the Colts had failed to clear the ball and the blonde midfielder shot passed Giles from close range.

The Colts rallied once more and were rewarded when full back Fergus found himself in the opposition box for a free kick and he bundled the ball home to reinstate the two goal advantage.

The referee blew the final whistle on an entertaining game that sees the Cumbernauld youngsters win the qualifying group and can now look forward to a semi final in the near future.

Full time 3-1
