BSC Glasgow vs Cumbernauld Colts - 24 Feb 2017
The Colts entered the game in hopeful spirits, looking to progress to the next round of the cup after last week’s 1-1 draw in the first leg at Broadwood. Despite entering the match with Alex Foy injured and Ryan Flanagan serving the first of a two match suspension, Colts put on a good performance to run out 7-1 winners
Immediately following kick off BSC’s defence proved suspect. Following a loose pass by the home sides’ defender, Conor McAteer managed to secure the first goal for the Colts with a cool finish before the game had reached five minutes of play. Connor McKenzie then added a second shortly after and once in the lead there ensued 20 minutes of flowing football from Colts where the home side had few chances to get back into the game as their moments in possession came to nothing. Colts then increased their lead from a Fraser Sheridan free-kick as his delivery evaded everyone in the box to sneak in at the far post. Defender McAllister then added a fourth with a powerful header from a corner and a second free-kick from Sheridan left the Colts to soar ahead by half-time. This clinical finishing combined with a strong defence by Colts back line, prevented the opposition from equalising and Colts stood at 5-0 going into the break.
Going into the second half, Colts made some changes, injured Byrne replaced by McGarahan, and goalkeeper Giles swapped with Purves. The Colt’s were sure not to slacken in their performance. Immediately once play had resumed, O’Hagan secured their sixth goal of the night with an assured finish from inside the box. The team finished the game with a strong seven goal performance, courtesy of McAteer’s second of the game. In the final minutes of play there was not much to note until the last 5 minutes of play, when BSC managed to get a goal back as a stray ball in midfield was collected by the home side who took advantage to make the score line 7-1.
