Caledonian Braves   2  v  3  Cumbernauld Colts

COLTS continued their good start to the Lowland League campaign with a hard-fought victory against Edusport Academy at Galabank on Wednesday evening.
Fraser Team's first half double put Colts on the road to victory before Steven Tart's second half header secured the win despite losing Craig Holmes to a late red card.

Mathew Flynn and Raffi Krissian responded for the hosts, but the ten men held on to take maximum points from a tough away venue and move up to third in the table.
Both teams started the game brightly and at a frantic pace with scoring opportunities being created at both ends of the pitch.

But Colts drew first blood in 7 minutes when a long kick-out from Jordan Pettigrew was flicked into the path of Team who found himself clean through on goal, and the striker lobbed the ball over the head of home keeper Solal Pelmard-Bassi into the net.
Edusport threatened the Colts goal on a couple of occasions desperate to get a foothold back into the game.

However, Colts doubled their advantage in 16 minutes when once again Pettigrew drilled a clearance the length of the park into the path of Team, and the striker lobbed Solal for the second time to put the visitors two to the good.

The hosts immediately tried to hit back and in 18 minutes Flynn picked out Jordan Alexandre on the far side of the penalty area and the winger should have scored but Pettigrew made a great low save.
Colts began to grow in confidence and in 32 minutes they produced the best move of game when Team, Brown and Holmes combined superbly before Brown sent an acrobatic effort narrowly past the post from 10 yards.

As the game neared half-time the visitors began to threaten and with almost the last kick of the first half the ball was lifted into the Colts penalty area, and Flynn found himself unmarked before drilling the ball low past Pettigrew from close range.
Edusport began the second period with intent and in 55 minutes only some resolute Colts defending prevented the hosts from levelling with Flynn and Liam Coogans both having shots blocked on the line.
Coogans went close again just after the hour mark when Alexandre found space on the right and picked him out with a neat cross but Coogan's effort was straight at Pettigrew.

Colts weathered the storm well, and the Cumbernauld men got their rewards in 71 minutes when Holmes delivered a free kick from the left which found Tart inside the six-yard box and the defender planted a header past Solal to restore Colts two goal advantage.
Colts seemed to be in control of the game going into the closing stages, but they were dealt a blow when Holmes was sent for an early bath after picking up his second soft booking of the game.
And from the resulting free kick the ball broke to Krissian inside the box and the midfielder drilled the ball low past Pettigrew to setup a nervous conclusion to the game.
But ten-man Colts remained resolute in the closing 5 minutes and held on to claim an important win before they go into a two week break from Lowland League action.
