COLTS crashed out of the William Hill Scottish Cup at the hands of Lowland League rivals BSC Glasgow.
It was a disappointing day for the majority of the healthy crowd inside Broadwood as Colts failed to reach the third round for only the second time ever.
But it was the visitors who made history reaching the third round stage for the first time in their existence.
Goals from Declan Hughes, Carlo Pignatiello, Robbie Duncan and Thomas Orr secured victory for the Glasgow side with Fraser Team netting the only Colts reply.
The visitors started the game brighter and former Colts man Duncan went close twice inside the opening 10 minutes.
Firstly, with a strike from the edge of the box which was well saved by Colts keeper Jordan Pettigrew and then a back post header which should have found the net.
Colts slowly began to impose themselves on the game and a dangerous in swinging corner from Craig Holmes in 14 minutes caused panic for the BSC defense and Sean Brown almost capitalised at the back post.
There wasn't much to separate the teams as the first period drew towards the a close.
But two minutes before half time Jordan Marshall let fly from all of 30 yards and the ball rattled off the BSC bar with keeper Stephen Barr stranded.
However, the action didn't stop there and on the stroke of half time BSC edged in front.
Hughes collected the ball on the edge of the Colts box and bundled his way through a couple of challenges before Pettigrew appeared to block the danger, but the keeper didn't have the ball in his grasp and Hughes slid the ball into the net from close range.
The visitors started the second half brightly and things went from bad to worse for Colts in 50 minutes when David Winters had a shot parried by Pettigrew which fell kindly for Pignatiello who rifled the ball high into the net from 10 yards.
Colts now had a mountain to climb, however in 70 minutes they threw themselves a lifeline when a good move allowed Holmes to cross low from the right and Team clipped the ball past Barr from 5 yards to reduce the deficit.
Colts were now piling on the pressure with Brown going close with a header from another dangerous Holmes cross, and Brown thought he should have had a penalty when he appeared to be pushed in the box by John Mitchell.
But just as it looked like Colts might grab an equaliser the visitors caught them with a sucker punch in 84 minutes when Pignatiello crossed low from the right which Pettigrew failed to cut out and Duncan knocked the ball into the net from close range.
And the Colts misery was complete two minutes from time when Pignatiello's shot was blocked by Pettigrew but sub Orr bundled the rebound into the empty net.
The result flattered the BSC somewhat, however Colts couldn’t complain about the outcome of the game as the visitors did enough to win the tie, and it’s they who will now look forward to a third round trip to Forfar Athletic.
