It was a share of the spoils at Broadwood as Colts picked up a hard-earned and deserved point.
The hosts looked to dominate the ball in the first half with the visitors staying compact and
organised.
Both teams struggled to create and there was little goalmouth action to speak of. That was up until the stroke of half-time as Civil Service came close to the opener. After a ball into the box fell kindly to a Civil Service man, the finish looked to be finding the bottom left corner but for an excellent intervention from James Grant on the line, a goal saving block.
Ten minutes into the second half, Gary Jardine’s side took the lead. A slack back pass from Scott Davidson allowed Alieau Faye in behind before nicking the ball past Jonathan Grier, with the Colts ‘keeper upending the attacker to give away a penalty. Grier saw yellow for his tackle before Faye stepped up to cooly slot the ball into the net.
Colts nearly drew level after the ball came for Sam Davidson in the area but his effort was
agonisingly wide.
Stephen O’Neill made his return from suspension as James Orr’s team pushed for an equaliser.
With 10 minutes left, Colts did grab the leveller. A long throw in from new signing Dominic McLaren was flicked on by Davidson before Fraser Team showed his striker’s instinct to smash the ball in from close range on the volley.
Both teams had late set pieces but neither could find a winner as the points were shared.
