EK 0-0 Colts

I did feel sorry for the many East Kilbride supporters who attended today’s game expecting to see their team winning the Lowland League Championship. I think it’s the biggest crowd I have seen at a Lowland League game. Things didn’t go according to plan. A New Town Derby 0-0 draw. I think it was an Italian journalist who suggested that the perfect score in football is 0-0 and this afternoon I think this game lived up to that suggestion. For me, it was an excellent defensive performance by the Colts with an outstanding display by our goalkeeper. There were times also when we came close to scoring with some very dangerous counter-attacks. EK played well, having most of the possession and creating most of the chances but Colts defended with determination, passion and bravery. Anyone who witnessed the game without knowing the positions of the two teams in the league would have difficulty in guessing that there is a big gap in the number of points accumulated and in their respective positions. Overall, a very enjoyable game even though we did spoil the planned party.
Well done, Colts. Forza Colts!
